Deidra M. Byas, MCA President, 2011-2012

Greetings MCA Members and Supporters

I am honored and elated to serve as your 2011-2012 President. This year will be one of celebration and recognition of the many successes this great organization has embarked upon and accomplished over the past years.  The goals I seek this year are achievable and realistic. I would like to challenge all counselors to become agents of change. Let us continue MCA’s legacy by advocating, embracing opportunities for new challenges, and most importantly, becoming social change agents for our profession as well as in our communities. Let us be as pragmatic with advocacy, social change, and legislative issues as we are passionate for those we serve.

This year, we will be laboring under the theme, Mississippi Counselors: Riding the Waves of Success. MCA has been successful for 61 years and I venture to say there will be many more successful years to come.  My conference committee and I have been working diligently! So, please join us this year as we return to the Mississippi Gulf Coast! Our 61st Annual MCA Conference will be November 2-4, 2011 at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Convention Center. Remember, conference is where all Mississippi Counselors come together to network with one another, renew the counseling spirit, and reignite that passion for making a difference.
